Weddings and Rivers

I had a great weekend in Breckenridge, CO where I was standing up in my friend's wedding. I had never been outside of Denver before, so it was a real treat to see the town and the summer landscape. I hate HATE winters in the city, but sometimes I think that if I lived in the mountains and was able to actually enjoy the beauty of winter, take part in winter sports, and not be a shut-in for 6 months of the year, I might not hate it so much.

Here is a photo of the river that runs through downtown Breckenridge. It looks nice and calm in this photo, but it was a RAGING river when we were there.

Bukowski Part II

To S. S. : May the bluebird be released...

I made this during my first few days of grad school when we were learning about poetry therapy...for real. The photo doesn't do it justice. I sewed into the paper, so the black zig zags, and all the red and blue lines are actually threads. The poem is to small to read in this picture, so if you want to read it go to my old post called Bukowski

New Ideas!

I have had a new idea for a line of headbands brewing in my head for a while now. I'm slowly getting it out, and I'm so excited about it! When I finish the first one I will post it on my blog first thing.

Dealing with the World

"Dealing with the World."
2009
acrylic and graphite on wood (maple)
signed
8" x 8"
I finished this painting over the weekend. It's titled "Dealing with the World." I made it while I was feeling down about all the bad things that happen in this world. I felt better after I made it. Good ole' fashion art therapy. I used acrylic paint and graphite on an 8"x8" piece of maple. It's all ready to hang, no need for a frame!
If you would like to purchase my pain-I mean this painting, click here! SOLD!!! (Thanks Meredith!)

Summer weekend

I had the best weekend in Michigan. I had two good runs on the beach and went for a bike ride. Very peaceful. We watched the movie Milk Sunday night. It was a great movie, but I cried at the end and got sad after it. I can't believe there are still people in this country who do not believe in basic human rights.

Woody Guthrie got a haircut last week, and it was cut WAAAYY too short. It wasn't the groomer's fault, I told him to give him a summer haircut, and that's what he got. He left the hair on his head longer, which looked weird, so David and I tried to fix it ourselves, and turned our dog into an animal that looks part squirl, part cat, and part fawn...with some schnoodle in there. He's still my cute little bug.

I Heart New York

I'm back from Renegade Brooklyn and I'm already missing New York. We had great weather and a fantastic crowd. I was sick the entire weekend though which was not so great. My husband took good care of me while I was out there selling, and at night we had so much fun going out. We had dinner in Little Italy, I got to see my favorite person from my old days at Lake Forest College. (Her husband runs a great candy store called Papabubble which we went to and saw a show in the basement of the building.) Sunday night we had a delicious dinner at Craft, and then walked around Greenwich Village, thinking about Bob Dylan a lot. I wish I could have stayed an extra week.
