For the Boys

I realize I never post any items geared towards men. So when I saw this cool tie made by Etsian Nancy Gamon, I had to post it.

Seriously

I am wrapping up a relaxing weekend in Union Pier, Michigan...but I'm so irritated because as I write this snow is pouring out of the sky. I naively thought we were done with this white stuff. It's almost April, where is the relief? I need to move somewhere warm asap. I also need to stop complaining.

This is what the beach SHOULD look like:

The Fellowship of Realists and Associated Literal Thinkers' Tea Party is the title of a paper cut book created by Helen Friel of London. What a cool idea and such a talented woman!

MIA

Sorry about the fake email, we were just trying to get your attention.
Sincerely,
Seeley and Michelle

Front Page Again!

OOOOOOOOH! One of my rings is on the front page of Esty RIGHT NOW!

Rachel

I love these beautiful one-of-a-kind neck pieces made by Rachellahh of Etsy.
Her sculptural works of art were inspired by her mother's unique style. Rachel uses lace, beads, and fibers in her creations, and also sells wristlets and soft sculptures on her site. I went to school with Rachel, and she truly is the fiber queen. I think she could crochet Earth's circumference in a blink of an eye.

TV on the Radio

The song I am obsessed with this week is TV on the Radio's Lover's Day. Thank you for putting it on my cd Golden.

Here comes the bride...

For my wedding I made my veil and comb and had such a good time making it that I decided to start selling bridal fascinators and veils for women on a budget! Here are a few I just finished.

Here are a few of the new fascinators and headbands I have been working on. More to come!
(My husband took the photos which is why I am laughing very hard in some of them. Isn't he a great photographer?)

Heartless Bastards

I am completely obsessed with the Heartless Bastards right now. My husband, who has incredible taste in music, introduced them to me.
The lead singer's voice is so unique. I love having new music in my life that moves me!

Sears Tower

I can't believe the Sears Tower's name is being changed to Willis Tower. I refuse to call it Willis Tower. It makes me think of Different Strokes too much. I remember how amazed I was with the Sears Tower when I was a kid. My brothers and I would get dizzy looking up to the top of the building. Below is the view we have of Sears Tower from our balcony. It's a hazy day today so it's not super clear, but there she is, standing tall and proud.

I saw Oprah!

Today was a great day because I had tickets to the Oprah show!!!! Valentino was the guest which was so cool that I got a fashion related show. It was a behind the scenes show actually, and he was there promoting the documentary about him called The Last Emperor.
They also did segments about American Idol (sorry but I don't like that show so that part was not so exciting) and Windsor Castle.
My favorite part was after the show when Oprah came back to chat. She was very funny, humble and kind. I was very proud of myself for not jumping on stage and hugging her.

Baby Bob

Here's a great clip of Bob Dylan singing one of my favorite songs, Only a Pawn in Their Game, back in 1963 at the Newport Folk Festival. As Joan Baez has said, he still had his baby fat back then.

Irish Designer

I saw the coolest skirt on the front page of Etsy this morning made by an Irish designer called Bonzie.
She makes the coolest romantic vintage looking pieces, although the skirt in the last photo is quite steampunk. I love them all!

Monday

Back at it today. This weekend was just so so because my husband was out of town, our dog was sick, and I was at the tail end of a cleanse, which meant I wasn't eating anything that makes me happy. (such as cheese and cheese. And cheese.) I did have a ton of fun working on a wedding comb for my friend who is getting married in May. I feel like I have gotten into a rut just making the same rings and necklaces, so this felt so good to create something new. That was the big lesson of the weekend. I would post a photo of it, but I don't want her soon-to-be hubby to see it. So in stead I'll post a photo of Woody Guthrie. He is feeling much better today.

No sick day.

I am sick, blahh, and I'm being a big baby about it. I think I should buy this zine I found on etsy. It was created by Kamutflakegirl while she was sick. It's all about being sick.

Beacons 11

Take a look at these haunting paintings made by Anna of Beacons11.
One of her pieces is an ode to Francis Bacon, who is one of my all time favorite artists. Beautiful work Anna!
